Violin & Mandolin
Along with his signature bow tie, Aaron Weinstein has worn many hats at Django in June over the years. This year he will join us primarily donning his his fretted-cap and work with mandolinists Wednesday through Saturday. As a mandolinist Aaron is perhaps best known for exquisite chord-melody arrangements of classic jazz standards. He’s is author of, “Mandolin Chord Melody System” from Mel Bay Publications and an excellent teacher, as you can see here.
On other occasions Aaron has swapped his plectrum for a bow and worked with violinists. This year violinists will have the option of working with him as well in one of our day-long Special Offerings on Tuesday. You can check out Aaron’s full bio right here for the long list of the artists he’s worked with as a performer, arranger and recording artist. Here he is with one such artist who knows his way around America’s own “hot jazz” guitar style, Matt Munisteri.
