Ken Allday
Guitar
Ken Allday was born in Long Island but we’ve always known him as one of the Kentucky crew that joins us every year from greater Louisville. He has been fretting with the fleetest-fingered at Django in June since 2011 and joined us as a teacher for the first time in 2017. Here’s how come:
Back in his old Kentucky home Kenny spreads the gospel of Django as both a player and teacher. He has performed alongside many old friends of Django in June, including Tcha Limberger, Denis Chang, Adrien Moignard and Ben Powell. Apart from Django his musical influences span a wide range of styles and artists, among them Jerry Garcia, Wes Montgomery and Stevie Wonder. The latter, by the way, is oft-covered by contemporary Gypsy jazz artists. Here’s one such artist, Ken Allday, on guitar, bass and vocals on Wonder’s, “For Once in My Life.”
