In this class, we will continue to develop our vocabulary of chord voicings so you can move through chord progressions with relative ease. We will also review how to get a good rhythm sound.

Learn the basics of “la pompe” and how you can find and develop your voice as a rhythm guitarist. We will also talk about different ways to tackle the Last 8 measures of this tune.

Learn to Solo by Learning Melodies (I Can’t Give You Anything but Love + a little bit of a lotta tunes)
In this class we will look at some of what can make a melody compelling, and complete. We will also develop some strategies for taking melodies as jumping off points for creating our own licks, and structuring whole solos.

In this class, we will explore the rhythmic figures and techniques we use when we play Bossas Sambas Rhumbas, Funk/R&B and Bolero’s in a Django style context. We will also look at some smaller voicings that can help keep things simple when playing rhythm, and some bigger voicings that can help us add color to our music!

Learn the basics of Bolero rhythm and how to make an intimidating rhythm more approachable using variations

Playing with Expression, Ornaments & Hummable Django Phrases (All of Me, and Troublant Boléro)
In this class we will work on our vibrato, melodic ornaments, how we get different sounds out of the guitar, how to apply all that expression to playing a melody… and as a bonus we will explore some simple, and playful phrases of Django’s that invite us to use all those ornaments and expression!
