(First off, a big thanks to longtime Djuners, Davorin “Buco” Cavar and Zach Serleth, who helped put together this page of support materials. Thanks, guys!)
On this page you’ll find resources to help you learn and/or practice all the tunes in Jack’s booklet of 24 Gypsy Jazz Standards. For every tune you have:
Reference recordings that will help you get a sense of how the tune is played in the jazz manouche style.
A play-along rhythm track which some generous artist or another has made publicly available. You may be able to slow the audio down directly in youtube. If not, there are many free apps available for downloading and then manipulating the audio so you can work with it at the tempo of your choice. Guitarists, please note: We steer you toward these rhythm tracks with the caveat that guitarists, especially those new to this style, should be practicing playing rhythm at least as much as lead. People may fear and respect you for your awesome lead playing, but they’ll love you for your rhythm. Go for the love, baby.
Clicking a hyperlink on a song title below will take you directly to the resources associated with it. All the resources are on this one page, so you are also free to simply scroll through all of them.
