Right now (fall of 2015) we are preparing for Django in June 2016. This site will be updated to reflect next year's program soon after the New Year, at which point we'll start taking registrations for Django Camp 2016. You are welcome to peruse the site at any time but be aware that before then much of the time-sensitive information may be outdated.
Welcome! Thanks for visiting. Django in June is New England's premier occasion to celebrate, study and just plain enjoy the musical tradition associated with the inimitable Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. That tradition is now known by many names: Gypsy jazz, hot (or Hot Club) jazz, Gypsy swing, jazz gitan... Whatever you call it, it offers one of the most ebullient, accessible and unique jazz styles on the planet.
Our flagship offering is Django Camp, which gives musicians the opportunity to immerse themselves in Gypsy jazz for 5 days under the tutelage of world-class artists from both sides of the Atlantic. The event is mostly held on the campus of Smith College in Northampton, MA, where Django Camp participants eat, sleep, study and "djam" to their heart's content. To learn more about Django Camp, have a peek under the For Musicians tab at the top of the page.
Pioneer Valley locals and visitors can get in on the act by attending our grand finale of weekend concerts at the historic Academy of Music in downtown Northampton, MA. In 2016 those concerts will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 17th and 18th. Tickets will be sold through the Academy's box office, so please check with them for availability.
Whether you plan to join us for a full week or a few splendid hours, I so look forward to sharing another Django in June with you!
Allons-y mes amis!
