Not yet registered? I am leaving the info and links below active just so you can see how we do things, but given the late date please contact me directly by phone (413.268.0068 until June 8th; 413.585.4361 from June 9-15th) or email (andrew AT communityguitar.com) before registering for Django Camp.
Thanks for your interest in Django Camp at Django in June! You have a number of options available that will determine the exact cost of Camp for you. Even if you've attended before, please read through the information below so you get the whole picture. Things have changed slightly in a couple areas.
- Tuition. Now that the first early-bird deadline has passed, the base tuition for Django Camp is $400, which covers all instruction and both concerts. A partial waiver of the tuition is available for the few non-musicians who may want to attend, (with their musician spouse, for example) to either hang out and listen or, more likely, go hiking, shopping or museum hopping while we jam.
- Housing & Facilities. There are two basic options in this category: get a private room in the dorm (the cost of which also covers your use of the Smith facilities) or stay elsewhere and pay a Smith College facility fee. You can also indicate here if you would like to arrive a day early (on Monday) to get settled in and enjoy some relaxed jamming before the instructional component begins. The dorm is where all the action is, so we strongly recommend staying on campus unless you live here in town. Linens and a towel are provided. There is no air conditioning, so if it looks like it is going to be very hot, you may want to bring a small fan. (For more on housing.)
- Food. The food on the Smith campus is very good and we encourage you to take advantage of this option while at Django Camp not only for sheer convenience, but because it provides a great time to hang out informally with staff and fellow campers. If you'd rather not take meals with us on campus, downtown Northampton is a 20 minute walk away and there are lots of places to eat at different costs.
- Financial Aid: We strive to offer the best value possible at Django in June, but there's no way around the fact that for some folks who would love to be here, Django Camp is a very expensive proposition. As we did last year, we will offer a few rooms at a discounted rate ($20 off per night), but we would like to offer even more. If you are in a position to contribute to our financial aid fund, you'll have the opportunity to do so from this page. We'll make those resources available to those who need them most, especially students and working musicians. We thank you in advance on their behalf. If you need financial aid, please swing by this page.
- Health Insurance : This year, Django in June is required to purchase short-term heath insurance for anyone who doesn't have it so that Smith College doesn't have to pick up your tab at one of our local hospitals. (Long story short: an uninsured person attending another summer program last year needed three month's of care!) The cost of this is only $18, and hows this—we'll split it with you.
- Pre-registration and cancellation policy: Whether you preregister or register in full, our cancellation policy is as follows:
- Until the 1st of May there is a $50 cancellation fee
- During the month of May, there is a $100 cancellation fee.
- From June 1st through 9th, there is a $200 cancellation fee.
- After June 9th, there are no refunds.
